How We Package and Ship Sports Cards
Written by Brandon Lawrence, founder of The Card Breaks, a Minnesota-based sports and trading card business.
Cards get damaged in transit more easily than most buyers expect. A soft corner, a bent edge, or a scuffed slab case usually happens after the sale, not before it — which is why packaging matters as much as the card itself. Here's exactly how an order from The Card Breaks is packaged and shipped.
Handling time
Orders ship within 1 to 2 business days from Minnesota. Orders placed on a weekend or holiday ship the next business day.
How each type of item is packaged
- Raw singles ship in a penny sleeve, a rigid toploader, and a team bag, all inside a rigid mailer so the toploader can't bend in transit.
- Graded slabs ship bubble-wrapped inside a box, so the certified holder is cushioned on every side.
- Sealed product ships boxed with padding, exactly as received from the distributor or source — nothing is resealed or repackaged.
Rates and tracking
Every order ships with tracking. Singles, packs, and supplies ship for $4.99 in a tracked mailer. Slabs and sealed boxes ship for $9.99 in a tracked box. One shipping charge covers your whole order no matter how many items are in it, and shipping is free on orders over $150.
High-value orders
Orders over $500 require signature confirmation on delivery, for both parties' protection.
